Dim Sum Garden (Philadelphia)

On a recent trip to Philly with friends, we decided to venture out to China town to indulge in the unique  flavors that this little town has to offer. By local recommendation, we made our way to a quaint restaurant by the name of Dim Sum Garden.

The locals have stated that this is the BEST place to go to get Chinese food, however its not only the locals that rave about this restaurant. It was voted one of Philadelphia's Top Restaurants and is featured in many Philadelphia based Newspapers.

The portions are huge and the flavors compete in comparison, yet the prices are favorably reasonable ranging from $7-$20.

Not knowing about the huge portions when we first arrived there, my friends and I admittedly ordered a lot of food. The vegetable dumplings, shrimp and broccoli with noodles, hot and sour soup, shrimp fried rice, were just a few orders we placed. Yet regardless of what we ordered, everything was delicious. The hot and sour soup was well balanced with a slight acidity and kick of spice by red peppers that wasn't over powering. The noodles complimented the shrimp and broccoli in a delectable sauce. Yet the one thing everyone should try if they ever go to Dim Sum Garden are its dumplings.

There are different dumpling types that include pork, beef, shrimp and even plain vegetable. We ordered the vegetable dumplings which were filled with chopped mushrooms, spinach, scallions and ginger. The flavors blended extremely well together and tastes even better once accompanied with the dumpling sauce. Ultimately if ever in Philly, I would highly recommend this place, because the food is great, just be sure to bring cash as they don't accept debit or credit cards.
