Obrigado Brazil

Christ the Redeemer

There's much to enjoy about Brazil, from the cuisine to the music to the all around vibrant culture that pulses throughout the city.  From the heights of its mountains to the depths of its favelas; it's a place filled with beauty and energy that bustles out every corner. On my trip to Rio, I was able to explore some of the most famous sites of Brazil.

Escadaria Selaron

Escadaria Selaron: The Escadaria Selaron is one of Rio's best loved attractions, the steps leading up from Rua Joaquim Silva is a work of art created by Chilean-born artists Jorge Selaron, who dedicided to cover the steps with colorful mosaics. These steps are his dedication to the Brazillian people, the 215 steps are a vivid riot of color.

Sugar Loaf Mountain
Sugarloaf Mountain:  Located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this mountain is one of two sights that every visitor to Brazil should see. Known in Portuguese as Pão de Açúcar (pow-jee-aah-sue-car), this huge cone shaped rock, as seen in the picture above is made of granite gneiss looms 1300 feet (395 meters) above the water.

On a clear day, you will have beautiful view of the shoreline from Copacabana to Ipanema, across Guanabara Bay to Niteroi, the city, and inland to the tropical forested mountains.

A part from the beautiful views to witness in Brazil, the food is absolutely delicious. Feijoada is a hearty stew of beans, sausages and cuts of pork of varying quality. Feijoada takes up to 24 hours to make, which is why many Brazilians go out to restaurants and bars to eat it. It's absolutely delicious and a local favorite.
